In April every
year the Sri Lankan community in England celebrate the Singhalese
and Tamil New Year with a festival of traditional dances and
songs. As you know Sri Lanka is a country torn by internal strife
and its people wish wholeheartly for an end to the conflict. So
this coming April the STG has decided to join in the wellwishing
by presenting a conmemorative banner. We hope that you will be
hired for the occasion in South London. As it will be exposed to
the English weather please make your artwork in materials that
can withstand some rain/wind. There is no size limit.

GRIFFIN & SABINE SWAP

The Compuserve G&S swap is resurrected. What is
Griffin & Sabine ? Its
a trilogy by Canadian artist Nick Bantock, which depicts
the letters and
postcards exchanged between the two main characters,a
London artist
(Griffin)
and a south seas beauty (Sabine). They make their own
decorative cards and
there is much mysetry as to if she is real or not. What
is a Compuserve
swap?
Its an exchange initially by members of the Compuserve
rubberstamping forum
but
now opened to include all who wish to take part.
The deadline for the first swap is December 1st 1998. The
theme is "Cities
of
Griffin" (he travels through Europe at one point in
the books).
Send 6 pieces and receive 5, postage/IRCs to cover return
and an adressed
envelope/label. Media is open, though collage in the
style of G&S is
preffered.
